A Hamilton woman who survived a deadly crash on the way to New York City is crediting a bouncer at a sports bar for saving her and her four-month-old baby from the fiery wreckage.
Mike Curtis of Glenmont, N.Y., was working early Friday morning at a bar near Interstate 87's Exit 21B when a northbound car driven by a local man smashed into a southbound minivan driven by Karen Weller of Hamilton.
Albany's WNYT-TV reports that Weller is praising Curtis for running to the crash scene with a fire extinguisher and using it to put out the flames.
He then removed Weller and her four-month-old son Tajaye from the wreckage.
Weller's passenger, 50-year-old Carol Dion of Stony Creek, Ont., was killed in the crash, along with the wrong-way driver.
Weller's baby, who she says suffered two broken legs and multiple skull fractures, remains hospitalized in Albany, N.Y.
