A 36 year-old Hamilton woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in relation to a death from January.
Hamilton Police responded to a call regarding a non-responsive male and upon arrival it was evident the victim was dead.
"He died of an acute heroin toxicity," said Detective Sergeant Joe Stewart. "In other words, a heroin overdose."
The victim, Edward Cieslik, was 36 years old and lived in Hamilton. He had been consensually injected with heroin prior to his death.
Police are not releasing information regarding the link between the accused and the victim, only saying they are "friends."
The accused will appear in court on Thursday.
