Hamilton police are investigating five more "distraction thefts" across the city.

All five incidents, which happened on Sept. 2, involved two men and two women in a vehicle.

In each case, the vehicle stops and the suspects ask the victim for directions, Hamilton police say. When the victim approaches the vehicle, one of the occupants places a necklace on the victim in an attempt to sell it. In that time, the victim's own jewelry is removed without the victim realizing it.

Hamilton Police Service investigated similar incidents in mid-August.

The suspects are described as:

  1. white male, tanned skin, black hair, early 30s, heavy build
  2. white female, heavy build, early 60s
  3. female, early 30s
  4. male, early 30s, thin build

The vehicle is a newer white SUV, possibly a Dodge.
