Hamilton police are searching for a 21-year-old male suspect in connection with an east-end stabbing that sent a teenager to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, officers arrived to an address on Tindale Court after reports of a violent attack at a house party.
Three uninvited men arrived to the gathering and got involved in a fight with a number party of guests, said Hamilton police Staff Sergeant Greg Doerr in a Saturday news release.
During the altercation, a 19-year-old man suffered stab wounds to the chest. Crews transported the victim to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The stabbing suspect and the other two intruders fled before police arrived to the scene. Officers gathered information from witnesses and were able to issue an arrest warrant for the alleged stabber.
Jerell Downey is described as 21 years old, five feet six inches tall, 132 lbs., with a medium build.
Doerr would not comment on whether Downey has prior criminal convictions, but said the suspect is known to police.
