Hamilton police have arrested two teenagers and charged them with arson and endangering life after two early morning fires in Ancaster Sunday.
Police were called to a landscaping business at 1735 Wilson Street West at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday for a suspicious fire. The fire was contained to a barn on the property.
Around 7 the same morning, a family reported a carbon monoxide detector went off at their home on Highway 52 Road South in Ancaster. Police said a fire had started sometime overnight. It was contained to a garage.
Police said entry to the garage was gained by activating the door opener in one of the family's vehicles.
Police arrested a 19-year-old from Dundas and a 16-year-old from Hamilton, around 3 a.m. Sunday near the scene of the first fire.
Police later connected the fires when officers found items belonging to both properties with the two males.
The suspects were held for a bail hearing expected to happen Monday.
