A man was ordered out of his shoes and backpack in a suspected street robbery around Ottawa Street this weekend.

The man was walking in the Ottawa Street and Campbell Avenue area around midnight on May 2 when five men approached him, police say.

They told him to take off his shoes and backpack, which they took along with his cell phone. One suspect threatened to kill him if he didn’t comply, police say.

The group ran away, heading westbound on Campbell Street.

In another street robbery case, a woman was walking around John Street and Robert Street around 3:30 a.m. on May 4 when two men asked her for money.

One of them pulled out a knife. The victim screamed and the culprits fled, police say. An officer was flagged down and checked the area.

Police are investigating.
