A Hamilton man has been charged with traffic offences after a fatal collision with an elderly woman in the city's east end.
The 49-year-old was charged with careless driving and not turning safely, Hamilton Police Service said on Tuesday afternoon.
The charges stem from a Feb. 13 incident. A 72-year-old woman crossed Wentworth Street South at Aikman Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle turning to go south on Wentworth. She died three days later.
Police say speed and alcohol did not factor into the collision. The police reconstruction unit investigated the incident.
It was the second traffic death — and the first pedestrian fatality — in the city this year.
