A Hamilton man with three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system was found driving through a school zone in the city's east end Tuesday morning.

Police stopped the 49-year-old driver near Sanford Avenue School around 10:30 a.m.

Cst. Debbie McGreal, spokesperson for Hamilton Police, said in a release the man was showing signs of driving impaired and was taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test.

The man is charged with impaired driving. Police released him on a promise to appear in court.
