A man from the lower city has been arrested and charged for sharing child pornography online.

On Wednesday, members of the police Internet Child Exploitation Unit alongside other officers carried out a search warrant at a home on Sanford Avenue. The National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre tipped them off that a man living there had been sharing sexual videos and photos of children.

The investigation was actually launched by German police, who forwarded information on to Canadian authorities.

Police are currently conducting “a detailed forensic examination of the computers and devices seized from the residence,” police say.

A 41-year old Hamilton man was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

He was held for a bail hearing.
