A Hamilton man is facing impaired driving and weapons charges after a vehicle carrying three passengers, including two children, was involved in a collision Wednesday night.
Hamilton police said that according to witnesses a 2005 Dodge Durango rear-ended a 2008 Ford SUV south of Queenston Road just after 9 p.m.
The Durango was carrying an adult female in the passenger seat, as well as a 9-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy in the backseat. No injuries were reported.
Police said the male driver, who didn't smell of alcohol, showed signs of impairment and was arrested. During a search police also found a prohibited knife.
The man refused to provide samples for the tests back at the police station and due to his medical condition was taken to hospital for observation. He again refused to provide a blood sample once at the hospital.
A 33-year-old man is facing charges for drug impairment, refusal to provide sample and possession of a prohibited weapon.
