A Hamilton driver has been charged after his truck rolled over on Highway 401 over the weekend, blocked all westbound lanes and cast debris into eastbound traffic.
Police and EMS responded to a transport truck rollover in the westbound lanes of the highway by Dorchester Road in Thames Centre around 11 a.m. Sunday.
Police learned that the truck was too close to the other cars decelerating on the highway. To avoid crashing into the traffic ahead, police say the truck driver braked, skidded across the westbound lanes and eventually rolled over and struck the centre blocking.
The driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
A 55-year-old Hamilton man is charged with follow too closely under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police are reminding drivers to leave enough space between cars and have time to react to avoid collisions.
