A Hamilton man has died after a cycling accident Wednesday that police have deemed a misadventure.

A 62-year-old was cycling on the side of Chippewa Road near Trinity Church Road in Stoney Creek. The man lost control of his bike and fell. He was wearing a helmet.

Terri-lynn Collings, spokesperson for Hamilton police, said a passerby in a vehicle saw the cyclist on the side of the road and called for help.

The man was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Collings said no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the incident.

Family members have requested that the man's identity not be released.
