Hamilton convenience store robbed at gunpoint
Police are looking for a suspect after a Limeridge Road East convenience store was robbed at gunpoint.
Hamilton police were called to a Mac’s Convenience Store around 10:45 p.m. on Jan. 13. They heard that a man had entered the store and pointed a handgun at the clerk.
The man demanded cigarettes and money and threatened to kill the clerk if he didn’t comply, police say. When the clerk handed over cigarettes and money, the culprit put them in a black gym bag.
As the thief was leaving, the clerk tried to call the police. The thief saw this, went back to the counter, pointed a gun at the clerk and threatened to kill him, police say. Then he knocked over the computer screen with the barrel of the gun and demanded more cash and cigarettes before leaving and running away. The clerk was not injured.
The man was last seen running westbound on Limebridge Road and turning onto Lockead Street. The canine unit searched the area.
The thief wore a black winter hat, black gloves and a black scarf over his face so only his eyes are visible.
Anyone with information should call Staff Sgt. Evangelista at 905-546-2991.
