The city is temporarily closing the Hamilton Children's Museum to fix "structural concerns" with the building.

An engineering firm has inspected the building and recommended it be closed to the public, said a statement on Tuesday.

Ojdrovic Engineering identified several "structural deficiencies" and recommended it be closed to the public and staff. The building is a two-storey brick masonry structure located at 1072 Main St. E. in Gage Park.

"Additional updates, including a re-opening date, will be provided as information becomes available," the city said.

The museum was inspected as part of an ongoing review of city-owned historic facilities.
