Ancaster's Summer Mortimer wins gold in the 50-metre freestyle swim Friday at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

Mortimer also set a new world record of 28.1 seconds in her golden swim, breaking her own time.

Mortimer set the previous world record at paralympic trials in Montreal in the spring with a 28.17 second swim.

Earlier on Friday, she broke the paralympic games record in the 50-metre free swim.

It's been two good days for Mortimer. She took silver in the 200-metre individual medley late Thursday finishing behind Sophie Pascoe of Australia who set a world record in the event.

Mortimer has plenty of opportunity to add to her medal haul. She has more events to swim including the 4X100-metre freestyle relay, the 4X100 medley relay, 100-metre freestyle and 100-metre backstroke. Six events in total. Two medals so far.

Mortimer has also set world records in the 200-metre individual medley, 100- metre freestyle, and 100-metre backstroke.
