A sixth person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Tyler Johnson.

On Thursday, Hamilton police’s homicide squad executed a search warrant on a central mountain home and arrested a 26-year-old man for first-degree murder.

The man will appear in court Friday to be formally charged.

This arrest follows five others police have made in connection with the shooting. Johnson was gunned down during an early-morning altercation in front of Vida La Pita, a restaurant on King Street West at Caroline, just west of Hess Village, back in November.

Earlier this month, two Hamilton men — a 34-year-old and a 25-year-old – were charged them first-degree murder. Two women, aged 27 and 28, face charges of accessory after the fact.

A 19-year-old Cambridge man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder back in December.

Police ask anyone with additional information on Johnson’s death to call Det. Dave Oleniuk of the Hamilton Police Service’s homicide unit at 905-546-3874 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
