It's shaping up to be a showdown of American discount department stores down at Centre Mall.
Fresh from debuting one of Hamilton's first two Target locations, the plaza at Barton and Ottawa is set to get a Marshalls, which, according to its website, is a purveyor of the "best brand-name styles at surprisingly low prices, all year round."
The Massachusetts-based retailer, a sister company to T.J Maxx, announced the Hamilton location is one of seven it is opening across Canada on April 4. It plans to open a total of 13 Canadian locations in 2013.
"With the launch of 13 new locations across the country this year, were thrilled to be bringing even more Canadians the style and savings they desire," Tamara Robbins Griffith, a Marshalls Canada spokesperson, said in a statement.
This will city's second Marshalls store. The first, situated on Upper James near Stone Church East, opened in 2012.
