The elderly man who died alone in a Flamborough field Monday night was hit by his own tractor, police say.

Around 5:35 p.m., police and ambulance crews were called to a field in the area of Westover Road and Safari Road in Flamborough. An 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy has revealed the man died from injuries consistent with being hit by his tractor. He was alone in the field at the time.

Police aren’t sure if the man fell off the tractor and was hit, or got off of his own accord and then was struck.

Police are not releasing the man’s name at his family’s request.
