Two fires broke out between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning in Hamilton, one of which caused more than a half million dollars in damage.
The first fire took place at Fifty Point Conservation area where an RV camper caught fire in the campgrounds. No one was injured and Hamilton Fire Services yet to assess the damages or cause of the fire.
Another fire broke out overnight at 47 and 49 London Street North in Hamilton, causing more than $500,000 in damages, HFS said. One resident and three firefighters received minor injuries. The multiple-alarm fire drew dozens of fire crews to the scene.
"Because they are older homes joined together, the fire can jump from one house to the next, so that's why we sent so many crews to the scene," said Dave Christopher, fire safety officer for the HFS.
The fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
