One person is dead and Hamilton fire, police and ambulance are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Highway 56 and Haldibrook Road, just west of Trimble Road.

Fire official Dave Christopher told CBC Hamilton one person was killed in the accident.

Hamilton police say one of the vehicles was a water truck and that the police reconstruction unit has been called to investigate.

On Twitter, HamOntFireService said they dispatched four units at 8:44 a.m.

A man who was in the area at the time of the accident says he heard a loud bang and later saw three ambulances, the OPP and Hamilton police cruisers.

Police have closed off a section of the road.
