Police are looking for a man in his twenties in relation to a shooting at an Emerald Street apartment building Friday morning.

Hamilton Police Service investigators have arrested one man in connection with the shooting. The other suspect is a black male in his twenties. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, police said.

The victim, a 47-year-old man, is in stable condition in hospital, police said this morning. Police have not released his name, but friends and neighbours have identified him as Peter Williams.

The shooting occured at 70 Emerald St. around 8:20 a.m. Friday morning. Two men were seen fleeing the area and getting into a cab a short distance away. Police have impounded the cab as part of the investigation.

It was a targeted shooting, and the victim knew the suspects, investigators said

A woman who described herself as the victim's best friend told CBC Hamilton that he called her around 8:30 a.m. and said "I've been shot, I'm dying" and hung up the phone. He then called her back and told her to call police.

Police are also seeking the identity of a female seen leaving the area with the two suspects. Police say they believe they know who the female is.

Anyone with information should call Det. David Oleniuk at 905-546-3874 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
