Three people barely missed being run over by a drunk driver in Stoney Creek early Saturday.
They were sitting in a yard in the area of Barton Street East and Glover Road around 1 a.m. when a GMC Yukon driving eastbound on Barton Street veered off the road and narrowly missed them, police say.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop in a nearby field and the driver wasn't injured. When officers arrived on the scene they noticed the driver showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. He blew over the legal limit.
A 30-year-old Stoney Creek man was arrested and charged with impaired driving and over 80. He was released on a promise to appear.
