Driver smashes pole, found with open liquor bottle, police say
A Stoney Creek man was found behind the wheel Monday while two times over the legal limit, police say.
Around 6:25 p.m., police were called about a single vehicle crash in the area of Mud Street East and 6th Road East.
A car was going west on Mud Street when the driver saw an eastbound vehicle veer into his lane before hitting a pole and ending up in a ditch, police say.
Once at the scene of the accident, officers saw an open bottle of liquor in the car. The driver was taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test where he blew over two times the legal limit.
The driver wasn’t hurt, but the car suffered “significant damage,” police say.
A 59-year-old Stoney Creek man was arrested on impaired driving charges. He released on a promise to appear.
