Hamilton's downtown sky was home to billowing smoke and fire Monday night.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is continuing to investigate the heavy blaze that called for city police assistance.
Hamilton firefighters were called in at 6:43 p.m. to 245 Catharine St. N.
The building is vacant and is divided into a two-storey residential home in the front and a commercial space in the back. Firefighters were able to complete a successful knockdown and tamed the fire to the rear one-storey portion of the building.
Damage is estimated at $75,000. Hamilton Fire said there were no injuries to firefighters.
