CBC Hamilton is hosting auditions for the hit TV show Dragons' Den

Do you have what it takes to brave a roomful of fire-breathing Dragons?

If you think you’ve got the next multi-million dollar business idea, now might be your chance to make it happen.

Dragons’ Den is holding auditions in Hamilton on Feb. 22 for entrepreneurs who want to appear on the hit CBC television show.

Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CBC Hamilton newsroom at 118 James St. N.

People going to the audition will be asked to pitch their business idea to the show's producers in five minutes or less. If they like your pitch, you could find yourself at the mercy of the Dragons during the show's March taping.

Nicole Mackay is one of those producers. Here are three tips that she suggests potential victims- ahem, contestants- should keep in mind.

1. Be passionate

“If you’re able to translate your enthusiasm and passion for your business or product, we’re able to pick up on that. That helps us be passionate about your business too.”

2. Be Visual

“Bring something visual into the Den so that it’s easier for us to get on board with your business. If you’re pitching a food item, bring in the food. If you’re pitching something animal-related, bring in a pet. It’s always good to have something fun in the Den.”

3. Be Confident

“Bring a well-prepared pitch. You want to be able to answer all of the questions regarding numbers and ideas. So if you know your business and you’re confident, that really helps.”

Mackay says that the show welcomes all comers.

“If you have even the slightest idea you want to pitch, come on out and give it a shot. Dragons’ Den can change your life.”
