Sonic Unyon has announced the second round of acts who will play Supercrawl this September, and there's a swath of well-known Hamilton bands.
The Arkells will headline the main stage on the Friday evening of the festival, playing some new songs from their soon to be released third album, High Noon. The band is also sponsoring the local stage by Dr. Disk and helped pick the acts.
Also appearing on the Friday night is punk rock/grunge darlings The Dirty Nil (who will be fresh off the release of a new record on August 19) and former Alexisonfire vocalist George Petit's new band Dead Tired.
Another performers just announced for the Friday show include Edmonton’s Shout Out Out Out Out, Oh Susanna, Harlan Pepper, The Beaches and Illitry.
Then jumping on the Saturday night show are local punk legends Teenage Head, Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner’s new project The Operators, and recent Arts and Crafts signing Lowell.
Then on Sunday, the Daptone Soul Revue (which features Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Antibalas, and special guests) will take over the main stage. Also appearing Sunday is Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire, Constantines vocalist Bry Webb, Jeremy Fisher, Hamilton singer/songwriter Terra Lightfoot, and Lost in the Trees.
Other acts that were announced for the festival on Monday include Tongue Fu, Hachey the MouthPeace and Lori Yates and the Drugstore Cowboys.
Organizers also plan to announce a secret pop up show on Twitter in the coming days featuring an artist from the 2014 lineup.
This is Supercrawl’s sixth anniversary, and it’s taking place on Sept. 12, 13, and 14 on James Street North. Admission is free.
