All lanes open after morning crash on 403 in Burlington
Collision snarls traffic in Hamilton-area for hours
A series of collisions caused chaos on Hamilton-area roads on Wednesday.
The main culprit was a multiple-vehicle crash on the Toronto-bound 403 at Waterdown road involving a tractor-trailer and a car that flipped over.
Lanes were closed for hours after the 6:40 a.m. crash as crews worked to clean up a fuel spill.
The left lane reopened in the morning and the two right lanes cleared at around 1 p.m.
EMS crews transported two people to hospital with minor injuries, said Luke Hewitt of the Hamilton Paramedic Service.
The collision caused major traffic backups in throughout Hamilton.
The inner city routes leading to the eastbound 403 were jammed, including York Blvd. which is backed up into downtown.
The HSR is experiencing delays in the "lower west end" of the city, said Christine Lee-Morrison, a representative from the city.
Two other major collisions added to the traffic problems on the major routes. At 9:30 a.m., police reported a three-vehicle collision on the upside of the Toronto-bound Skyway Bridge. And at 9:45 a.m., a two-vehicle collision blocked the left lane on the westbound 403 in Burlington.
No major injuries were reported in either collision.
