8-vehicle crash snarls westbound 403 through Hamilton
6 people, including one child, sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
An eight-vehicle crash Sunday injured six people and has snarled traffic on the westbound Highway 403 through Hamilton.
The collision happened just east of the off-ramp to Main Street East at around 12:30 p.m., said Carmen D’Angelo, a platoon commander with the Hamilton Paramedic Service.
Crews took six people — five adults and one child — to hospital.
“They’re all complaining of neck and back injuries. However, it’s nothing life-threatening,” D’Angelo said.
The westbound lanes of the highway were closed for about an hour for the cleanup, but the traffic backups caused by the compound wrecks continued later into the afternoon.
D’Angelo said it wasn’t clear to him what caused the collision.
“It’s a bright, sunny day,” he said. “I haven’t seen one of these in awhile.”
