Hamilton Police are looking for two men after a 74-year-old woman was aggressively assaulted in front of her east-end home.

The woman was outside her home around 10:30 p.m. Friday night when two men approached her from behind, police said in a release.

She was grabbed, thrown on the ground and told to hand over her car keys. When she called for help, one of the suspects put their hand over her mouth, police said.

The woman said she would hand over her car keys if the men stopped, but they continued to assault her. One suspect went inside her home, but nothing was stolen, said Cst. Debbie McGreal, Hamilton Police spokesperson.

After he came out of her house, the woman was tied up at the top of her driveway, McGreal said.

The two suspects went back to her car and tried to force their way inside when a neighbour called the police. The suspects ran away when they heard police.

“It was random,” McGreal said, of the crime.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The two suspects are described as two black males in their 20s.

Hamilton Police are asking anyone with information to call Division 2 Det. Jamie Simpson at 905-546-2919 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
