The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have granted kicker Luca Congi's request to be released.

Congi joined the Ticats as a free agent in March 2012 and hit on 67 of 91 field goals over two seasons. But this off-season, Hamilton signed veteran kicker Justin Medlock.

"We'd like to thank Luca for his contributions to our team on the field and in our community," Ticats head coach/general manager Kent Austin said in a statement. "He was a true professional throughout his time in Hamilton and we wish him the best in the future."

Congi, 30, a native of Waterloo, Ont., began his CFL career with Saskatchewan, spending six seasons with the Roughriders before joining the Ticats.
