'Hilarious House of Frightenstein' gets audio vinyl release
Just in time for Halloween, CHCH TV's cult classic The Hilarious House of Frightenstein is getting an audio vinyl release.
The limited edition album, which is being pressed by Groove Vinyl, is like an "audio companion to the show," said project producer Todd Harapiak.
It includes classic sequences from the show's ghoulish characters, and the two best-known songs from the show — its intro theme and the song from the Wolfman segment.
"I grew up watching the show," Harapiak said. "It was such an eye-opening experience for us as children, as an introduction to music and monsters."
The Hilarious House of Frightenstein was a sketch comedy series filmed in Hamilton back in the early 1970s, which was syndicated internationally.
It included performances by Billy Van, Mitch Markowitz, and the iconic Vincent Price, who recorded all his parts for the show in just three days, Harapiak says.
"The writing was so funny — getting Vincent Price involved, and having Billy Van, who was just so amazing at all those characters."
The vinyl also comes with a booklet about the show that chronicles its history, and features select photos from a collection of 600 previously unseen set photos.
Quantities are limited to 1,000, and "once they're gone, they're gone," Harapiak said.
