Three Stoney Creek schools sat in a three-hour hold and secure
Three local schools were placed in hold and secure as Hamilton police executed a warrant at a Stoney Creek residence.
Just before 10 a.m. Hamilton Police issued the hold and secure alert to Saltfleet District High School, Gatestone Elementary, and St. Mark's Catholic Elementary.
HPS continues to investigate in the area of Upper Centennial and Highgate Drive. Schools will remain in Hold in Secure through the lunch hour. Please stay away from the area. <a href="https://twitter.com/HWDSB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@HWDSB</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/HWCDSB?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@HWCDSB</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/HamOnt?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#HamOnt</a>—@HamiltonPolice
The schools stayed in a hold and secure just shy of three-hours.
Police arrived at the scene shortly before the notice was issued to the schools.
On scene, Hamilton police had patrol units, the Emergency Response Unit, and the Break and Enter and Robbery (BEAR) unit. Police said they "secured" the residence while negotiating the arrest of a man inside.
The arrest took place at 12:57 p.m. and the hold and secures were released shortly after the arrest was made.
The accused will face court Friday, on counts of dangerous driving and flight from police.
Hamilton police anticipate additional charges will follow the court hearing.
