A man is dead after a crash in Caledonia last night, Ontario Provincial Police say.

The incident happened at 10:41, police say. That's when emergency crews rushed to Highway 6 near Fifth Line where a vehicle had left the road and rolled into a ditch.

Investigators say there was one person in the car and it was going south on Highway 6, when for some reason, the car flew off the road.

The man who was driving was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The name of the deceased is not being released at this time," an OPP news release reads.

Both Highway 6 between Argyle Street South and Fourth Line, and Fifth Line at Mckenzie Road were closed for around seven hours last night while emergency crews were on scene.

Police say an update will be provided once information becomes available and is confirmed.
