Fire crews were at the scene of a working fire at a business at Sargent Avenue and Century Street on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire broke out at United Fibre Bond at 1700 Sargent Ave. just before 4:30 p.m. CT.
Witnesses at a nearby restaurant told CBC News they could see smoke coming from the building.
There was potential for major traffic snags as crews worked in the area along the major northbound route.
No details about the nature of the fire have been released, but a Winnipeg Fire Department platoon chief said crews would likely be there for a long time.
It was unknown if there were any injuries.
