Woman attacked from behind, groped, in south Edmonton
A 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near 110th Street and 68th Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Police say a man grabbed her from behind and pulled her to the ground shortly after she got off the bus on 109 Street around 10 p.m.
“He made an overt grope to her body so that is the sexual assault component,” said Det. Roxanne McKean from the sexual assault unit.
The woman was able to fight the man off. She screamed and the man fled the scene.
The woman sustained minor scratches but didn’t require medical attention. She was able to call police who brought in the canine unit and the Air-1 police helicopter the chase.
The suspect is between 5’8” and six feet tall, with a slim build. He was wearing dark-coloured clothing and gloves at the time.
McKean says police are examining whether this incident is connected to other assaults in the city.
