A water main break flooded part of Edmonton's Riverdale neighbourhood on Wednesday evening.

EPCOR was called to 89th Street and Rowland Road around 6:15 p.m.

Water communications manager Michelle St-Amand said that there was a significant amount of water on the road.

"We have called in graders and sanders to try to alleviate some of ice and water that is on the road so that we can make it safe for the public," she said.

It isn't yet clear how many homes have been affected. Police were called in to help with traffic on the Dawson Bridge.
