Travis Vader faces 1st-degree murder charges in disappearance of McCanns
The lone suspect in the disappearance of St. Albert, Alta., couple Lyle and Marie McCann almost two years ago made his first court appearance this morning.
Travis Vader, 40, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the elderly couple. They were last seen on July 3, 2010, heading to British Columbia.
Their burned-out motorhome was discovered two days later near Edson, but their bodies have never been found.
Vader was identified as a suspect early in the investigation but wasn't charged until last month.
He is in jail on unrelated charges and will appear by video link June 5 in Edson provincial court, two hours west of Edmonton.
