The city is turning to social media to build support for LRT funding.
The city is asking Edmontonians to use Twitter to tweet their support for the extension of the LRT between the downtown and Mill Woods.
The campaign includes a YouTube video featuring the mayor talking to transit users about the importance of expanding the LRT.
The idea is to pressure the provincial and federal governments to cough up the $515 million still needed to complete the southeast LRT project.
"This campaign is first and foremost aimed at Edmontonians in activating them to reach out through social media to their other elected officials at other orders of government," Iveson said. "They know that Edmonton city council's unanimous that this is our top priority.
"It's time to share that as citizens with decision-makers at the legislature and in Ottawa."
