Well, knock us over with a feather!
CBC Edmonton's Turkey Drive has soared past its ambitious goal of raising $500,000 for the Edmonton Food Bank. As of 3:15 Monday, the 18th annual fundraiser had raised $517,118.79.
The whopping total is around $200,000 more than was raised in 2012. More than half the total was raised on Blitz Day last Thursday, the end of the official campaign. Donations continued to come in over the weekend through the Turkey Drive website.
The campaign kicked off Dec. 13, the same day Mayor Don Iveson declared CBC Turkey Drive Week.
This year's total equals almost 21,000 turkeys, valued at $25 each.
