A water main break early Monday morning has forced the city to close the Terwillegar Recreation Centre until further notice.
“Flooded our back parking lot which then entered the facility,” said Mark Dafoe, building operations manager. “We had about six to eight inches in our building support area.”
Water managed to get into a service room before it was shut off which created problems with the facility operations.
“Folks have been working really hard to get our phone and computer back up online, but right now we don't have our water supply into the facility,” Dafoe said.
The whole building is now closed while repairs are underway. About 4,000 people use the recreation centre each day.
