Edmonton police are investigating an assault on a teenage girl that occurred in Riverbend area on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called after an alleged assault in a driveway near 48 Avenue and 143 Street around 4 p.m.

A girl was walking down an alley when she was assaulted from behind by a male attacker. The man grabbed the girl and forced her to the ground. After a brief struggle, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The girl suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately six-feet-tall with a medium build. At the time of the assault he was wearing a dark-coloured jacket with a single reflective stripe around the wrist and brown jeans. He was also wearing white gloves with rubber palms and mesh tops.
