Teen missing on Alberta lake after canoe capsizes
One teen rescued after waves overturned canoe on Lesser Slave Lake
A teen is missing after falling out of a capsized canoe Wednesday on Lesser Slave Lake north of Edmonton.
Police believe two teen boys around 15 years old were paddling to Dog Island Wednesday afternoon when large waves overturned the canoe.
An hour passed before a boat passing by picked up one of the teens, police said. The second boy was not seen. Neither of the boys was wearing a life jacket.
An intensive search of the south and eastern shore, lake and the island failed to find the boy.
The search was suspended once it became dark, but continued Thursday morning.
Lesser Slave Lake is about 250 kilometres north of Edmonton.
