A 19-year-old worker from Spruce Grove was killed Friday morning as he was unloading a large cabinet at Myshak Crane and Rigging in the Acheson Business Park west of Edmonton.
The teen was using a pallet jack to take the cabinet off a tractor-trailer, when it fell over and landed on him, Occupational Health and Safety spokesman Barrie Harrison said.
The worker's colleagues called paramedics and performed emergency first aid.
He was taken to hospital in Edmonton where he died from his injuries.
His name is being withheld by police until his family is notified.
The site was shut down for the day. Occupational Health and Safety and RCMP are investigating.
