Teen brothers killed in Strathcona County crash
Two teenage brothers died Monday when their car was struck by a pickup truck on Highway 16 at Range Road 213 in Strathcona County.
RCMP have identified the teens as Dalin Torresan, 17, and Logan Torresan, 14, from rural Strathcona County.
Their aunt Roxanne Davies says she is in shock.
"They were super boys," she said. "Their dad was so proud of them."
Const. Wally Henry of the Strathcona County RCMP said the collision occurred around 12:40 p.m, when a Saturn-make car carrying the boys pulled onto Highway 16.
"Witness accounts report that the vehicle stopped at the stop sign but entered the intersection when it wasn’t safe and the vehicle that they were in was struck broadside by a GMC pickup truck," Henry said.
The brothers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 54-year-old male driver of the truck, who is from Willington, was taken to hospital in Edmonton with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Arm wrestling champions
In July 2012, Logan, Dalin and their father Dean were profiled in a feature on CBC Edmonton's Radio Active. .
Dalin and Logan won national titles that year and Dean, who was once the two-time Canadian champion, won silver and bronze in the Masters division.
The wins meant they qualified for the world championships in Brazil.
But there wasn't enough time to get visas so they weren't able to go.
