Street racing charges laid in death of N.W.T. boxer
Edmonton Police have charged two people with street racing in the death of N.W.T. boxer Jonathan Andre.
Andre, 31, was struck by a white Honda Civic just before midnight on June 26 as he was crossing 118th Avenue and 42nd Street in the northeast part of the city. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nicole Reid, 24, and a 16-year-old female have both been charged with dangerous driving while street racing causing death.
A 23-year-old passenger was given a summons for supervising a learner without a valid drivers license and permitting an unqualified person to drive.
Andre, a middleweight boxing champion, was originally from Fort McPherson. He was living and training in Edmonton at the time of his death.
