Strathcona County residents will be under a water ban until 6 a.m. Saturday as crews work on an emergency repair to one of the main water lines into Sherwood Park.

The county says emergency repairs to the waterline are being completed sooner than originally anticipated, and the reservoirs are now being filled.

The ban on non-essential water use applies to residents in Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Josephburg, Half Moon Lake, Collingwood Cove, Antler Lake, and Fultonvale.

Residents are asked to limit their water consumption by taking short showers, only flushing toilets when necessary, delaying laundry and washing dishes and not fill hot tubs, pools or large aquariums.

Updates on the water ban will be posted on the Strathcona County website.
