Police probing abduction attempt on Whyte Avenue

Edmonton police are warning women about walking alone after dark following the attempted abduction of a 19-year-old woman on Whyte Avenue.
Police say the woman was walking along the avenue at 98th Street around 4 a.m. Sunday when a man tried to convince her to get into his van.
He then grabbed her and tried to force her into the vehicle, police said.
She fought her way free and was picked up by friends who were driving by.
Police continue to look for the suspect and a vehicle described as an early 1990's Chrysler van, grey or light blue in color.
Police are reminding people to use the buddy system to get home whenever possible.
