A 52-year-old education student at the University of Alberta has been missing for more than two weeks and his sisters believe police are not doing enough to find him.

Glenn Lawrie was last seen attending a workshop at the University of Alberta education building on Feb. 2nd. An instructor said he left for lunch at noon and didn’t come back.

His sisters Debbie Maloney and Darlene Lowe are worried. They say police are scheduled to send the file to the missing persons unit on Tuesday but wonder why it has taken so long.

“We don't understand. Why wouldn't Missing Persons not be on this?” Lowe asked. “The longer it takes, the less hope there is, I think.”

Lawrie was close to finishing his teaching degree. On Tuesday, he was supposed to start a practicum at a school in Edmonton.

“He was so close to completion,” Maloney said. “This isn't adding up.”

All Lawrie's belongings except his university identification card and the key to his dormitory room are in his room and there's been no activity on his bank account, Lowe said.

“His wallet, all of his other identification, are in his room,” she said.

The sisters are pleading with anyone who have seen or talked to their brother to let them know.

“We’d just like him to return,” Maloney said. “Obviously, we’d like him to return safely. If that’s not to be, we’d just like to know what’s happened to him.”
