The driver of a Red Arrow passenger bus that overturned near Redwater, Alta., last year has been charged with nine counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

Thirty-one people were injured — several critically — on Feb. 10, 2012 when the Fort McMurray-bound bus rolled over on Highway 28 about 65 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.

Red Arrow general manager John Stepovy says the company stands behind the driver.

"Until we really have a better understanding of the RCMP's findings, we're standing behind our safety record, our training, our driver," he said.

Alberta Justice says that Terry MacInnis will appear in Fort Saskatchewan court on Feb. 28th.

He has been on medical leave since the crash.
