Police are investigating after a man was stabbed at a party in downtown Edmonton early Sunday morning.
Staff Sgt. Dean Robertson said police were called at about 3:20 a.m. MT to an apartment near 106 Avenue and 103 Street where a party had been underway earlier.
Multiple people had apparently attacked a man in his mid-20s. Police said the victim had multiple stab wounds around his neck and upper body.
Police say a man in his mid-20s was stabbing multiple times by multiple suspects following an argument at a party in a downtown Edmonton apartment. (CBC)He was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery, and police said he should survive.
Police brought in a canine unit to help look for the suspects, and the weapon — or weapons.
Officers were still at the apartment late Sunday morning, and said a blood trail leading away from the apartment building into an alley is of particular interest.
One of the attackers may have been injured and police say the blood could point to who that is.
As of noon Sunday, police didn't have any suspects in custody, and were still interviewing witnesses.
Some residents in the area told CBC News that they're afraid for their safety.
Police admit they've had major problems trying to curb crime in the neighbourhood, and that officers are dispatched to the area on a daily basis.
